knowing God(ref:the gospel according to st John)

1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
from the above scripture we can conclude that to know God personally; starts with knowing his word.
1:2
The same was in the beginning with God.
the same word was in the biginning with God
1:3
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
the word is personified here in 'him'
1:4
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
in the word was life; and the life was the light of men
1:5
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
the word came into the world; and the world comprehended it not.
